Keep Louisiana Beautiful grant provides enhanced recycling and recycling literacy on Loyola’s campus

By Loyola University on Wed, 12/10/2025 - 12:47

New Orleans, La. – Loyola University New Orleans students will soon have more opportunities to recycle on campus and increase their recycling literacy, thanks to a grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful.

Loyola received over $4,700 from the organization to upgrade existing recycling stations around campus, which continues the efforts from last year’s grant to increase recycling and divert waste from landfills through consistent, visible and clearly labeled recycling stations and by adding a glass recycling hub behind Biever Hall. Additionally, the grant provides support for a student Green Team to increase the community’s literacy about recycling on campus.

“We’re excited to bring even more recycling opportunities to campus. Our efforts from last year have received positive response and the desire from all sectors of the campus community for more campus infrastructure dedicated to diverting and reducing waste going to landfills,” said Mark Tobler, coordinator for the Keep Loyola Beautiful program and environment program research associate. “Our eventual goal is to expand and upgrade even more receptacles and hubs across campus moving Loyola towards a more sustainable campus, and we’re grateful to Keep Louisiana Beautiful for supporting this important initiative at Loyola.”
