Magis Moment: February 2026

A Message from the Vice President of University Advancement

February in New Orleans is always a time of celebration. The news comes quickly as Mardi Gras presents opportunities to recognize Carnival royalty, to see musicians and performers doing surprise shows while visiting town, to enjoy pop-up menus featuring seasonal local favorites. All eyes are on the news and social media for the latest updates to celebrate the season in style.

Loyola alumni are shaping the communications and media landscape in New Orleans and around the world, helping keep our communities informed, engaged, and connected. Thanks to the generosity of one such alumnus, even more Loyola students will now have a clearer path to those careers.

Through the support of John Deveney ’88, the Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Media proudly announces the creation of the DEVENEY Endowed Internship Fund. This newly endowed fund reflects a renewed commitment to empowering public relations and marketing students by combining meaningful financial support with a paid, high-impact internship experience.

John has been a devoted friend of Loyola for decades, and this endowed scholarship solidifies a legacy rooted in mentorship, opportunity, and service. As an engaged volunteer and trusted public relations advisor, John and his fully integrated marketing agency, DEVENEY, have helped connect Loyola graduates with professional opportunities for 30 years.

We are deeply grateful to John for this transformative investment in our students’ futures, and we congratulate DEVENEY on three decades of success, with many more milestones ahead.

Sincerely,

Stephanie Hotard
