Loyola Lenten Series: Reconciliation with God and Neighbor

Reconciliation is central to Ignatian spirituality.

It is the only Sacrament explicitly named in one of the Jesuits' foundational documents. Jesuit Superior General Fr. Arturo Sosa linked reconciliation and universities in a 2018 speech. And it was a key theme at the Jesuits' 2019 General Congregation 36.

Loyola's Lenten Series reflects this Ignatian commitment. The series explores the place of reconciliation in Ignatian spirituality and what it means for our own lives and in relationship to others. 

Presentations take place at 7:00 p.m. CST in Loyola's Ignatius Chapel in Bobet Hall (#3 on the campus map, on the first floor on the Calhoun St. side of Bobet) and on Zoom. You only need to register if you want to attend on Zoom. Refreshments will be served after each. These presentations are free and open to the public with free parking available in West Road Garage (#13 on the campus map).

• Fr. John Brown, S.J. will hear confessions from 6:20-6:50 before his talk Wednesday, March 15 at Loyola in the Reconciliation Room outside of Ignatius Chapel. 
• The Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available after his presentation in the Reconciliation Room outside of Ignatius Chapel. 
• New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond invites you to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Every church in the Archdiocese will have a priest available for the Sacrament from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday March 15, 22, and 29. 
   

Meet the Speakers!

	Becky Eldredge, MPS ('08) is author of two books on Ignatian spirituality published by Loyola Press. She founded Ignatian Ministries and is an Ignatian-trained spiritual director, retreat leader, and presenter.
	Bidish Sarma, J.D. is a fellow of Loyola's Jesuit Social Research Institute. He works as as an Assistant District Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the Orleans Parish District Attorney's office. His role there entails reviewing and resolving cases in which individuals may have been wrongfully convicted or received extreme sentences that should be reduced.
	Fr. John Brown, S.J., M.Div., Th.M., is President of Jesuit High School New Orleans.
