Chicago based musicians Ben Lamar Gay (voice, cornet, electronics) and Ayanna Woods (voice, bass, electronics) are joined by Loyola faculty members Jeff Albert (trombone and electronics) and Alexandria Smith (trumpet and electronics) for a concert of technologically mediated improvisations. Presented in conjunction with the Instigation Festival.

Event is free and open to the public. Loyola adheres to all City of New Orleans guidelines regarding COVID-19 and indoor music venues.

Opera Connects

"Opera Connects" is a new artistic partnership between the opera programs of Loyola University New Orleans and Xavier University of Louisiana. Both schools have made substantial contributions to the distinguished operatic legacy of our city. The inaugural concert will take place in February 2022, and will showcase faculty and students from the two institutions in performance of vocal music by three centuries of Black composers.

The GRAMMY® Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer has been hailed as “the world’s reigning male chorus” by The New Yorker, and is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for its wide-ranging repertoire and dazzling virtuosity. Founded in San Francisco in 1978 by singer and musicologist Louis Botto, Chanticleer quickly took its place as one of the most prolific recording and touring ensembles in the world, selling over one million recordings and performing thousands of live concerts to audiences around the world.
