Sister Helen Prejean, the nation's foremost death penalty opponent, joins Catherine Anyango Grünewald and Rose Vines, the illustrator and author of the new graphic edition of the award-winning memoir, Dead Man Walking, for a conversation about capital punishment, social justice, and the power of story. Free books will be given to all who attend the event.

National Book Award winner Justin Torres will be giving a reading on campus followed by a brief Q&A. Torres is the author of We the Animals (2012) and Blackouts (2023). There will be a pre-reception in front of Monroe Hall at 2:30PM with light food and beverages. This event is co-hosted by The Pirate's Alley Faulkner Society, the English Department, and the Center for Latin American and Latinx Studies.
