Historian Father Bentley Anderson, S.J., a former Loyola Trustee and author of Black, White and Catholic: New Orleans Interracialism, 1948-1956 will speak to the Loyola community and guests about a complicated time in university history. Fr. Anderson will start by describing a 1948 meeting between Archbishop Rummell and local college students to discuss desegregating New Orleans’ Catholic colleges, and the years of work it would take to achieve.
