Norman C. Francis Leadership Institute to Honor President Tania Tetlow

The Norman C. Francis Leadership Institute  (NCFLI) will honor Loyola University New Orleans President Tania Tetlow on Saturday with its NCFLI Fellow of the Year Award.

“We are proud to honor Loyola President Tania  Tetlow as our inaugural NCFLI Fellow of the year. President Tetlow graduated from the Institute’s program in 2017 and embodies the spirit of our mission to cultivate leadership that fosters positive change and growth in our communities,” said Dr. Norman C. Francis. “Especially in the last year, President Tetlow has exemplified the cultural intelligence, spiritual enlightenment, and a steadfast moral compass that is at the core of the Institute’s principles.”

NORFLI will honor President Tetlow at its annual fundraiser on Saturday, September 21, highlighted by a special performance by Grammy-Award-winning singer Eric Benet. Receiving Awards of Excellence that evening are the editor of the New York Times, a renowned author, an international leader in professional sports, all with ties to New Orleans.

Inspired by the esteemed former president of Xavier University Norman C. Francis, the Institute has provided leadership training to the region's most promising leaders as they make their impact on civic engagement and social responsibility in the Southeastern United States. Dr. Francis was president of Xavier University, the nation’s only historically Black and Catholic university for close to 50 years and has built a lasting legacy of serving academia and communities with the highest principles.

On Saturday, the Institute will present  NCFLI National Leadership Awards for Excellence to
●    Dean Baquet, native New Orleanian and executive editor and chief of the New York Times; 
●    Walter Isaacson, native New Orleanian, renowned thought leader and writer, former editor of Time Magazine, and former CEO of CNN and the Aspen Institute; and
●    Monty Williams, former NBA Player, Head Coach of the New  Orleans Hornets/Pelicans from 2010 to 2015, Assistant Coach of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team, and current Coach of the Phoenix Suns.   

This year’s third annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the New Orleans Jazz Market, 1436 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans, La.  70113.
