Two Sides - Opening Reception

By Loyola University on Mon, 10/20/2025 - 11:10

Poster Exhibition on Polarization

Developed in collaboration with the 2025 Peace Conference on Polarization, “Two Sides” features striking work by Graphic Design students. Each explored four timely and challenging issues - immigration, the death penalty, abortion, and GMOs - by designing paired posters that express opposing viewpoints.

Under the guidance of Design Professors Scott Gerike and Daniella Marx, students were challenged to think critically, design creatively, and engage with the Library’s collections. Drawing on the Library’s resources, students explored the historical, ethical, and cultural dimensions of their topics to inform their visual interpretations. The resulting exhibit is a compelling example of how the Library’s collections support student learning, creativity, and civic engagement.

The opening reception for “Two Sides,” will take place in the Monroe Library on Wednesday, October 22, at 5:00 p.m. This event also marks the debut of the Library’s new gallery wall - located on the first floor near the Honors area - which will now serve as a dedicated space for showcasing student creativity throughout the year.
