At Loyola University New Orleans, the Forecast Calls for “Sneaux”
(New Orleans – December 6, 2021) Dreaming of a white Christmas? “Sneaux,” the University’s annual winter celebration, will fall from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021 at Loyola University New Orleans, 6363 St. Charles Ave. The Loyola community – faculty, students, staff, alumni — as well as friends and neighbors — are invited to attend the annual event, which takes place on the lawn on the Horseshoe outside Marquette Hall.
Sneaux-balls, sneaux-men and other winter fun are always on tap at this annual crowd-pleaser. This year, attendees will be able to take photographs with Santa, Mrs. Claus, elves and snack on hot chocolate and cookies while listening to Christmas music. Free T-shirts are available for the first 350 Loyola students to arrive at the event!
The Loyno Express Train will run throughout the evening, taking riders around Santa’s Workshop, allowing them to meet characters along the way. Attendees will learn about Christmas and holidays around the world. And in keeping with Jesuit values, students may also pen Christmas cards to prisoners. Student organizations will sponsor craft tables that will include fun ways for guests to learn about Christmas and other holidays.
This year’s event also includes a food and toiletry drive for Iggy’s Cupboard, Loyola’s food pantry located on the lower level of the Danna Student Center. Students who bring five items to the Student Life and Ministry suite before December 3 will get their Sneaux t-shirt early … without having to stand in line. In 2019, over 500 items were collected for the Cupboard!
Free parking is available in Loyola’s West Road Garage located on West Road and accessible from St. Charles Avenue.
