By Loyola University on Tue, 05/07/2019 - 16:34

IBM communications professional Brandi Boatner, a member of the Loyola University class of 2005, will be inducted into the Mass Communication Den of Distinction Class of 2019.

The induction will be held in conjunction with the school’s annual senior reception on Friday, May 10 in the Communications/Music complex on St. Charles Avenue.

The School of Mass Communication’s alumni hall of fame, the Den of Distinction, recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves nationally through a lifetime of accomplishments or by extraordinary achievement. Nominees, through those accomplishments and achievements, should be innovative leaders, set new standards of excellence and clearly serve as role models for Loyola’s students, alumni and our greater community. Since its inception in 2012, the Den has inducted 18 outstanding alumni.

A New Orleans native, Boatner graduated with a B.A. in mass communication/ public relations.  After receiving a master of arts degree in communication from Hawaii Pacific University, Boatner joined IBM in New York, where she is the social and influencer communications lead for Global Markets in IBM corporate communications. Additionally, Boatner has extended responsibilities in her role serving as the brand communications manager for the IBM Marketing function where she supports external engagements, press activities and social media for the Senior Vice President of Digital Sales and Chief Marketing Officer.

She served on the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National Committee as vice president of advocacy and went on to become the first multicultural woman to serve as PRSSA national president. At the PRSSA 2018 National Conference Boatner received the Hall of Fame Award.
