By Loyola University on Fri, 07/01/2022 - 10:25

(New Orleans, La. – July 1, 2022) The Loyola Institute for Ministry, together with Immaculate Conception Church, welcomes Xavier University President Dr. Reynold Verrett, to deliver a talk as part of “Cannonball Conversations,” a lunchtime speaker series in honor of the current international Ignatian Year.

Dr. Verrett will present “Catholicity and Pentecost: the Universality of God’s Love,” at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at Immaculate Conception, located at 130 Baronne Street. The 45-minute talk follows the noontime Mass and will include time for Q and A at the end. The event will also be live-streamed on the parish YouTube channel.

Dr. Verrett is a biochemist and immunologist, with degrees from Columbia University and MIT that he has put to use in both the classroom and the research lab. He took office as the six president and second lay leader of Xavier, the nation’s only Catholic Historically Black University (HBCU) in 2015.

"Cannonball Conversations" features prominent local voices talking about faith, finding your path, and changing the world. Called for 2021-2022, the Ignatian Year commemorates the 500th Anniversary of St. Ignatius of Loyola's conversion and the 400th of his canonization. See the attached flyer for more details.
