Nell Nolan and Dennis Woltering to Perform Love Letters at Loyola on Valentine's Day
For one night only, the Loyola Theatre Arts & Dance Department (TAD) will present Love Letters by A.R. Gurney starring Nell Nolan and Dennis Woltering. An epistolary play in two acts, Love Letters traces the lives of Melissa and Andy from their privileged background to their prep school years and well into adulthood. The story of their relationship is funny, sad, and compelling as two lives intertwine with humor, love, compassion, and a few sparks.
Nell Nolan has acted on more than 30 stages in Louisiana. She has performed eight times in the Tennessee Williams Festival, and internationally in France, London’s West End, and in Tbilisi, the Republic of Georgia. Recent appearances have been in Rob Florence’s Katrina and in Lady Shontine, a monologue she created for a Tennessee Williams fundraiser. Nolan is also the society columnist for the New Orleans Advocate.
Dennis Woltering ended his career as a reporter and anchor in 2014 after more than 40 years of broadcast experience in New Orleans, Philadelphia, Fargo, and Washington, D.C. In his semi-retirement, he has produced several videos and documentaries, including one commemorating the New Orleans Tricentennial. Dennis is also a board member of the Bureau of Governmental Research.
Nolan has been a long-time supporter of the department since seeing Chair Patrick Gendusa’s production of The Laramie Project back in 2007. We are thrilled to have her and Woltering here to present a special Valentine’s Day performance of Love Letters.
All proceeds of this performance will benefit Loyola University New Orleans’ Theatre Arts & Dance Department. During the several years that Nolan and Woltering have performed Love Letters, they have raised more than $10,000 for various charities and organizations.
Love Letters will run in the Lower Depths Theater at Loyola University, 6363 St. Charles Avenue on February 14th @ 7:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar.
Love Letters by A.R. Gurney is presented with permission of Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
