Loyola University New Orleans is excited to welcome Aariel Charbonnet, Ph.D., as the new Vice President of Marketing and Communications. A dynamic leader with extensive experience in higher education, Dr. Charbonnet brings strategic communication and marketing expertise and a deep connection to New Orleans. She was hired after a months-long search process that included input from faculty, staff, and students and she will officially join the University in mid-February.

Dr. Charbonnet comes to Loyola from the Louisiana State University (LSU) Manship School of Mass Communication, where she most recently served as Assistant Dean for Strategy. In this role, she led initiatives in strategic communication and media relations, community outreach, alumni relations, research, student engagement, recruitment, and staffing. Prior to that, she was the school’s Director of Communications.

An accomplished academic, she holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Research and a Master of Mass Communication from LSU. Her professional background positions her to elevate Loyola’s brand and highlight the university’s impact.

“This position embodied so much of what I’d been looking for,” said Dr. Charbonnet. “Loyola’s Jesuit tenets of critical thought, faith and justice, and holistic development resonate with me personally and professionally. I admire the entrepreneurship and creativity among students and faculty, and I am eager to tell Loyola’s story.”

Dr. Charbonnet is a New Orleans native and is excited about returning home after living in Baton Rouge. “I look forward to rediscovering the city’s charm and being closer to my family.” Reflecting on her childhood, she recalled attending an art and dance summer camp on Loyola’s campus. “Standing on this beautiful land, surrounded by New Orleans history, filled me with pride, awe, and vitality. Visiting the campus recently, I felt it again. What a full-circle moment.”

“Dr. Charbonnet’s expertise makes her the ideal leader to tell Loyola’s story and champion our mission,” said President Xavier Cole. “We are thrilled to welcome her to Loyola and look forward to the creativity and energy she will bring to this role.”
