Mary Garvey Algero, JD ‘89, Named 2026 College of Law Glass Honoree
Loyola University New Orleans College of Law is proud to announce Mary Garvey Algero, JD ‘89, as its 2026 Glass Honoree.
Algero has served as the associate dean of faculty development and affairs since 2015 and is the Warren E. Mouledoux Distinguished Professor and the Philip and Eugenie Brooks Distinguished Professor at the College of Law.
The Glass Award is presented to an individual affiliated with the College of Law who has volunteered service to the university or the College of Law.
Since joining the faculty in 1993, Dean Algero has served in a number of vital roles, including as co-director of both the Lawyering Program and Westerfield Fellows Program and director of the College of Law’s study abroad program in Spetses, Greece. She is an expert on civil procedure, federal courts, legal research and writing, and legal ethics.
“Few have been as committed to Loyola College of Law and our alumni association as Dean Algero," Dean Madeleine Landrieu said. “Whether it was as a law student, working in private practice, or becoming a respected member of our faculty and the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, she has loved Loyola well.”
Dean Algero will be honored by the College of Law during the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in Miramar Beach, Florida. As the award's name suggests, her portrait will be featured on the honorary glassware distributed at the conference.
Join us in celebrating Dean Algero by registering for the Sandestin Cocktail Reception, hosted by the College of Law’s Alumni Board, on June 3.
