Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi: A Service of Remembrance and Hope

Join us for a special observance of the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi as we commemorate the 800th anniversary of the passing of St. Francis and honor the enduring witness of his life and faith.

The Transitus, meaning “passage” or “crossing,” is a sacred Franciscan tradition that remembers St. Francis’ journey from this life into eternal life. Through prayer, Scripture, music, reflection, and remembrance, we will gather in gratitude for a life devoted to Christ, marked by humility, peace, care for creation, and love for all people.

This Service of Remembrance and Hope invites us not only to look back upon the life and legacy of St. Francis, but also to consider how his witness continues to call us forward. Eight hundred years later, his prayer for peace, compassion for those on the margins, reverence for creation, and joyful commitment to the Gospel remain a source of hope for our world.
