FreeJSRI is collecting toys for children & teens visiting their parents at Rayburn Correctional Center this Christmas! In collaboration with Loyola-Rayburn Student Government Association and Loyola SGA, we are hosting a toy drive so that hundreds of children & teens can unwrap presents and celebrate the holidays with their parents.
There are donation boxes in different locations around campus:
- Danna Center: by the TVs between the bookstore and the OR
- Monroe Library: across from the front desk
- Chapel of Saint Ignatius: vestibule off of the main lobby
- Law School: main lobby at 526 Pine St.
The guidelines for gifts are:
- Unwrapped
- Smaller than a shoebox
- For all ages (don't forget teenagers)
- No gift cards
You can also donate online to the Loyola Rayburn Fund, and we can buy a gift for you!
Last year we collected over 270 gifts, $700 in donations, and 16 rolls of wrapping paper.
This made an indescribable difference in so many families’ lives.
One of the Loyola-Rayburn SGA officers wrote,
“To see the joy and happiness on each kid’s face as they opened their present was a feeling that cannot be described in words. I do not think you truly have an idea of how valuable you made each and every one of us feel. You intensified our inherent value so much. We felt your love and care towards our ideas, and it feels so good to know that we have a community like YOU backing us in trying to make a difference in the world we live in. So, from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for your donations. It may not have been much to you, but it was worth more than a million dollars to us.”
Please help us make a difference this holiday season!
We will be collecting gifts until Wednesday, December 10th.
