Add to Calendar 2023-03-08 16:00:00 2023-03-08 18:00:00 International Women’s Day Loyola University New Orleans' Women's Leadership Academy (WLA) through the Office of Professional and Continuing Studies (PACS) and Women's Resource Center (WRC) are hosting its inaugural International Women’s Day event, which will be held on International Women's Day (March 8), 4 PM -6 PM, on Loyola’s uptown campus. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.  Loyola University New Orleans is stepping up to provide an event to celebrate and connect women in the community and to highlight the wonderful work that Loyola University New Orleans is doing to elevate women. Loyola University is celebrating its fifth Cohort of the highly successful Women’s Leadership Academy as well as the creation of 2 new programs: Young Women's Leadership Academy and the Collegiate Women’s Leadership Academy. The event will feature City Councilmember for District B, Lesli Harris, who will share her inspiring leadership story and how she advocates for women for the City of New Orleans. Also, Madeleine Landrieu, Dean of the College of Law at Loyola University will lead a courageous conversation with visiting scholar Professor Negina Khalili. Professor Khalili will share her work as a prosecutor of gender crimes in Afghanistan, her daring escape to America after the Taliban takeover, and her continued efforts to speak for the rights of Afghan girls and women. Loyola University New Orleans is invested in being a true change-maker for women, not just in our region, but globally, and is committed to breaking down barriers for women through education and empowerment.
