Catholic Student Community

Overview

    The Catholic Student Community, administered by the Department of Student Life and Ministry and located primarily in the Magis Catholic Community Lounge on the lower level of the Danna Student Center, supports the spiritual and holistic growth of all students interested in learning about the Catholic faith and/or growing in their experience of it. Development of Ignatian ideals is provided through spirituality, service, and evangelization.

Programs

  • Weekday weekly Mass and Bible Study Lunch
  • Weekly Community Dinner, including speakers, topics of study around church documents and teaching, and promotion of vocations to priesthood and religious life
  • Periodic “Holy Hours” including Eucharistic adoration and the sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Weekly Sunday student Mass in the Chapel of St. Ignatius
  • Sodalities to Our Lady
  • Spring formal dance
  • Social and outreach activities (trivia nights, gaming tournaments, etc.)
  • Service opportunities in the greater New Orleans area
  • Reflection opportunities including overnight and day retreats
  • Community support for the Catholic Studies minor
