Bio
Professor Mercedes (aka Saint Mercedes) is a New Orleans based vocal artist, and international vocal coach.
In 2015, she survived a thyroid cancer surgery which left her voice paralyzed. Despite an unfavorable prognosis, she regained her ability to express music with the use of one vocal fold, reinventing her voice with asymmetrical anatomy.
As Saint Mercedes, the artist performs, records, and curates collaborative productions to ignite the heart of passion and creativity. Her healing project, Medicinal Harmony, is a multi-generational collective of benevolent music makers, aligned on purpose.
She currently supports young artists as full-time faculty at Loyola’s College of Music and Media.
