Dr. Nuwan joined the business analytics faculty in the College of Business in Fall 2023. Dr. Nuwan is a Fulbright scholar. He is an econometrician and teaches business analytics and economics at Loyola University New Orleans. Econometrics, big data, and health data science are the fields of his research interest. In his current research, he is developing novel methods for analyzing and modeling complex human and veterinary medicine data, biomedical text processing, and analyzing vertical mergers in the soda industry. He engages in research design, modeling, large-scale data mining, and analyzing a wide range of health and economic data. Dr. Nuwan is collaborating as a research associate in 1DATA Consortium, at Kansas State University and sports analytics with Prof. Sanders at Syracuse University.
He has worked as an analytics consultant for international organizations such as Plan International in the United Kingdom, the World Bank, and the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ).
He earned a bachelor's degree in econometrics from the University of Colombo (Summa Cum Laude) and a master's degree in economics from Western Illinois University. Dr. Nuwan completed a Ph.D. in economics (with field specializations in econometrics and applied game theory) from K-State in 2019.
