Nigel Washington

Nigel Washington joined the Student Success Center as an Academic Advisor/Success Coach in 2025. As a born and raised New Orleanian, Nigel graduated a few blocks away at De La Salle High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of New Orleans. 

After a seven year stint in Philadelphia while pursuing music journalism––writing for publications like Complex Magazine, Okayplayer, Offbeat, and most recently Pitchfork––he came home to assist students in achieving their academic goals. When not working with students or brainstorming article ideas, he’s likely watching reality tv with his wife, being a bedroom DJ, or watching Youtube videos ranging from music, politics, sports, and video games.
