Bio

Dr. Erin Cloherty joined Loyola in the Fall of 2025 as Assistant Professor and Director of the Public Health Program. She is also adjunct in the Dept. of Biological Sciences. Dr. Cloherty has worked in the public health sector for over fifteen years as an entomologist, insect toxicologist, and parasitologist.

Her research interests include the interaction between humans and the environments they create, particularly, impacts of urbanization on society and vector-borne disease, environmental toxicology and public health, the impacts of climate change and natural disasters on disease transmission, the history of science, socio-economic impacts of disease, public perception of pest control, vector-borne disease control and prevention, and applying evolutionary principles to human health and disease.
