Bio

Dr. Eric Hardy is a historian and sociologist. His teaching and research are focused primarily on twentieth-century American urban development, infrastructure, and environmental politics. A true interdisciplinarian, Dr. Hardy has taught courses for the Department of History, Department of Sociology, and the Environmental Studies program since 2010. He has published in Technology and Culture, the Journal of Urban History, and with the American Planners Association Press. His forthcoming book, "Atlanta’s Water Wars: Technocracy, Politics, and Environmentalism, 1945-2005" (under contract with University of Pittsburgh Press) uses water policy as analytical frame for understanding the difficulties of managing regional growth in the post-World War II American cities.

Dr. Hardy lives in uptown New Orleans with my beautiful wife and daughter and likes to ride his skateboard to campus when it's not too hot or wet outside. He's always looking for an opportunity to surf and is a fan of public stretching.
