Bio
Courtney Hurtig is an associate at Phelps Dunbar, LLP. In her role, she helps individual physicians, group practices, treatment centers and laboratories build and protect their businesses across Louisiana and Texas. She leverages her background in health care to find solutions to transactional and regulatory issues.
Courtney brings a wide breadth of experience to her work with clients. Her varied practice gives her a comprehensive toolkit to pull from so she can quickly create a gameplan for any issues that arise during provider operations. She routinely advises clients on:
- Physician contracts, recruitment and employment
- Innovative health care delivery models
- Telehealth and digital health
- Mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures
- Traditional and private equity practice sales
- Nonprofit formation and FQHC look-alike designation
- Health care regulatory and compliance matters
Growing up in a family of physicians, Courtney realized her own passion for health care through her work with children’s hospitals and in outpatient psychology, and she earned a master’s in health services administration before beginning her legal career. This insight into the business side of providing care, in addition to experience working directly with physicians and health care administrators, keeps Courtney in tune with the specialized regulatory and operational realities providers face.
