Bio

A native of Miami, Florida, Eugenio “Gene” Hernandez, III began his journey at Loyola University New Orleans 20 years ago. At Loyola New Orleans, Gene studied sociology, history, and Latin American studies and graduated in 2007. Gene currently serves as the director of programming for the middle school at St. Martin's Episcopal School where he also teaches 5th and 6th grade social studies. He began his involvement as an alumnus volunteering on the Young Alumni Board and is now the Alumni Association Board President. Gene is most excited to support our new University President Xavier Cole and is keenly focused on supporting our newest graduates in their involvement as alumni.

Gene met his wife Emily, Class of 2010, while studying at Loyola and proposed to her at the Loyola sign in the Marquette Horseshoe. They were later married at Holy Name of Jesus Church on campus. Gene is also a float captain in the Krewe of Tucks, which was founded by Loyola alumni.
