FAQs for Prospective Students

Is Loyola University New Orleans open for campus visits?

No, unfortunately we are unable to offer campus visits through the end of April 2020.

How can I learn more about the campus without visiting?

  • Check out our virtual campus tour, hosted by our own Student Government Association President, Jessamyn Reichmann Young.
  • Students can also get a feel for the size of our campus and some of its amenities through our interactive 3-D map.
  • Our Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Financial Services offices remain accessible via email, phone, and text during this time and we are here to help.
  • If you are an Admitted Student, check out our Virtual Admitted Student Day where we will host weekly "Live with Loyola" webinars! See the full schedule in the next question below. 

Is the April Admitted Student Day still happening?

No, unfortunately, we had to cancel our on-campus Admitted Student Day program on April 19-20, 2020. However, we have created a Virtual Admitted Student Day for you! It includes videos with current students, faculty, alumni, parents of current students and a virtual campus tour! We're also hosting weekly "Live with Loyola" webinars there on a variety of topics where students can watch our presentations and submit questions to our presenters. If you are unable to attend the live webinar, no problem! All past webinars will be available to view on our Virtual Admitted Student Day.

Are you still taking applications?

Yes! We are absolutely still accepting applications and offering scholarships. Currently, we do not anticipate any disruptions to our Fall 2020 semester. Please apply here.

Are you accepting graduate school applications?

Yes! Moving forward, we will communicate with all graduate school applicants via email. Our general graduate admissions email account will be checked daily as normal. Students can still submit applications via the graduate student application online. Students will be asked to submit official transcripts and other supporting documents electronically. However, a process has been implemented for physical mail to be picked up and processed regularly.

Can I still make my deposit?

Yes! You can still make your enrollment deposit online.

  • On-campus students: $500
  • Commuter students: $300

Once I submit my deposit, when will I receive more information?

After May 1st, you will start to receive regular updates from the Admissions Office about next steps leading up to the Fall 2020 semester. In the meantime, please check your Loyno portal for required documents needed before arriving on campus in the Fall.

Can I plan on June orientation?

At this time, all June and August orientations are still scheduled to occur as planned.

My high school year has been extended to make up for lost instruction days. Does this affect my admission decision?

Of course not. After you have completed your senior year, please send us your final transcripts and be sure to check your Loyno portal for other required documents.

How can I talk to a professor about some questions I have about my intended major?

Our wonderful professors are here to help and available via email. Check out our Academics page for your specific program and individual professor contact information.

I want to experience success coaching. How do I do that?

Will you accept unofficial transcripts or test scores during this time?

Yes, we will accepting unofficial transcripts and test scores. With school and business closures, we understand that your school or testing center might not be able to send Loyola an official printed copy of your transcript or test scores. We will accept electronic transcripts or PDFs from the school or student emailed to admit@loyno.edu for undergraduate students. For graduate students, they can be emailed to gradadmit@loyno.edu. We will not accept a handwritten form.

Please note that we will require an official copy of the final transcript before the student begins classes in the fall.

I am a prospective transfer student - where do I send my transcript?

We are encouraging all prospective transfer students to send their transcripts electronically at this time. Please contact Jamie Blanch, Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions, with any further questions about transferring to Loyno.
