Conferences
Beginning in 2001, the SPSGH will meet annually in association with the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy(SPEP). The dates for the SPEP meeting are October 3-6,2001. The meeting will be hosted by Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. Information on SPEP can be obtained from the web site http://www.spep.org. The SPSGH will have two panels for this meeting: 1."The Future of the Holocaust: Recent works of Berel Lang." Speakers for this panel are Peter Caws, Tom Rockmore, Sarah Harasym, and Berel Lang; 2."The Future of Genocide."The deadline for Abstracts for the second panel is March 1,2001. All proposals/abstracts for the SPSGH/SPEP meetings should be sent to Jim Watson, Dept.of Philosophy,Loyola University, New Orleans,LA,70118.
The SPSGH will continue to meet in association with the APA Central Division. The Central Division meeting for 2001 is May 3-5 in Minneapolis. Please contact Andre Mineau (contacts) for information and proposals for this meeting.
The SPSGH is currently organizing its 2nd International Conference. This conference will be held at the University of Vienna from 2-5 June 2002. A "Call For Papers" will be posted on this site in the near future. The title of this conference is "Der/Die Andere: Ein internationales und interdisziplinäres Symposion über ethnische Kontroverse und Vernichtung." The languages of the conference will be German and English.
Contemporary Portrayals of Auschwitz: Philosophical Challenges is the volume resulting from our first international conference in Bonn (October 1996). This volume is now available from Humanity Books (Prometheus)see Publications.
