Loyola Summer Program in Spain
The Loyola Spain Summer Program consists of 4 weeks in Ávila, a provincial capital located in central Spain. Ávila, the home of 17th-century Spanish mystic saints Teresa de Jesús and Juan de la Cruz, is located about 1 hour northwest of Madrid, with easy access by train and bus. Included in program fees are day trips to Segovia, Salamanca, and the Prado Museum in Madrid. Study in a city where there are more locals than tourists and you can really practice your Spanish in the summer!
Program fee ($3800) includes:
- 2 classes for 6 credits--all classes taught in Spanish, M-Th
- 3 Friday excursions
- Segovia
- Prado Museum in Madrid
- Salamanca
- Day trip to Carmelite sites in Fontiveros and Alba de Tormes (nearby villages) for Mysticism class
- Complete Room & Board in a Spanish Residencia
- Basic Insurance

Students take 2 classes offered through the Universidad Católica de Ávila for 6 Loyola credits. All classes will be taught in Spanish except RELS N134.
Prerequisite--SPAN A100 or equivalent, or a higher level of Spanish (recommended)
Classes available:
Spanish language class at the appropriate level, beginning at SPAN A101 (2nd semester)
SPAN G316—Spanish Culture in Spain
RELS N134—Christian Mysticism—Advanced Common Curriculum

- $350 deposit required by March 1, 2008
