Dance Team Tryout Information

Dance Team tryouts for the 2007-2008 school year will be held in conjunction with our President’s Open House (For Fall 2007 incoming/admitted students).  Please let us know by Monday, March 12, 2007 if you are interested in trying out.  Tryout Weekend will be held from Saturday, March 17, 2006—Sunday, March 18, 2006.

2007-2008 Dance Team Tryouts

Tryout routine and cheer will be taught.  Please be on time & make sure to sign-in.  The online tryout form must be filled out before the workshop. Also make sure to bring your $5 Tryout Fee, Grade Report, copy of your insurance card & Medical Release Form on Saturday. If these documents are not turned in you will not be allowed to participate in the tryouts.

Attire: Wear anything that you are comfortable to dance in. Dance shoes are recommended, but tennis shoes are perfectly fine.

Workshop

Please make sure to be on time; as soon as you get to tryouts sign-in & get a number. Tryouts are closed to the public. Also, you will not be allowed to view any score sheets.

Attire:  ALL BLACK DANCEWEAR MUST BE WORN (Top, pants, and shoes).  Please make sure to look appropriate for a PERFORMANCE!  (This means looking neat, professional, and includes having your hair out of your face and make-up on.)

Tryouts

No dance training is required to tryout for the dance team, but there are certain technical requirements that you will be asked to execute in addition to the dance you will learn at the workshop.

The dance requirements are as follows:

Clean Double Turn (Double Pirouette), Clean Grande Jeté (Leaps to Fourth and Second), Clean Axle, Cleanable Fouettes 

 

Please let us know you will be attending tryout weekend by Monday, March 12, 2006.

Things to know about Tryouts

All LU Dance Team members are expected to attend ALL practices, performances (games, pep rallies, parades, competitions, etc.), community service events, team fundraisers, & other team appearances.

All LU Dance Team members must maintain at least a 2.25 GPA for each semester.

All LU Dance Team members are expected to fulfill ALL financial requirements.

We are looking for dedicated people who love to dance, and have positive attitudes!!!!

Expectations of an LU Dance Team Member

Financial Requirements

Old Members - $350—Includes NCA camp fees and the possibility of something unexpected (like a new practice uniform)  .—This does not include the possibility of $100 to attend nationals or $17.00 picture fee.

New Members - $600—Includes NCA camp fees, 3 practice uniforms, warm-ups (jacket & pants),  jersey, & briefs.—This does not include the possibility of $100 to attend nationals or $17.00 picture fee.

Any brand Black low top Jazz sneakers and jazz shoes (Just let the Captain see them to make sure) Shoes don’t have to be purchased if the member owns a pair.  Same goes for stockings.  Any brand Tan Dance stockings will suffice.  Just let the Captain see them first.

ALL LU Dance Team members are also required to participate in fundraising events. This may involve members baking goodies for bake sales or spending about $5.00 to help raise money for the team.  We will try not to make our members spend their own money, but spending $5 for fundraising events will prevent members having to spend hundreds of dollars for items the Cheerleaders may need.
