Organic Vegetable Course

Organic vegetable production is a sustainable way of producing healthy, nutritious vegetables using natural ways, relying on natural ecosystems and technologies for plant nutrition and pest control, and therefore reducing the reliance on purchased inputs for production.  Topics covered in this 5-day course include the basic principles of organic vegetable farming: the importance of organic matter, green manures and biomass transfer in organic vegetable production, the methods to produce and apply compost and manure tea, nursery management, irrigation, natural pest and disease control, and the post harvest handling of vegetables.
