Summer Collaborative Outreach and Research Experience (SCORE)

Info for high school students

  • Students from public and private high schools in the greater New Orleans community (i.e., Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Plaquemines Parishes) are encouraged to participate.
  • Loyola University New Orleans does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, veteran's status or national origin in its educational programs or activities. Students from groups underrepresented in the sciences are especially encourage to participate.
  • The stipend for high school students will be about $200 per week.
  • Students will attend a Math for Scientists course Monday through Thursday mornings.
  • Students who meet enrollment criteria will receive three hours college credit for the Math for Scientishts course. Tuition may be waived.
  • Students will receive a graphing calculator to use in the Math for Scientists course and to keep thereafter.
  • Students will participate in a field trip or service learning activity each Friday.

In order to apply, complete and send 1) the attached application, 2) an official copy of your high school transcripts, 3) a letter of recommendation from a current teacher, and 4) a letter of recommendation from your College Guidance Counselor or Principal to Loyola University New Orleans, Office of Admissions, Box 18, 6363 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118.
