How did the mentality change from the classical period to the Hellenistic period, what accounts for this change?  What were the chief positions of the Epicureans, Cynics (see slide) and Stoics?  How did the Lyceum and Academy change during this period?  How were the Epicureans and the Stoics alike, different?  How did the Epicureans believe one achieved happiness; how did the Stoics?  Why was the appeal of Stocism so great in the post-Alexandrian world?   Where was the center of literary production during the third and second century B.C.? What works did they produce and how did they compare to classical works?
