The Geoffrey Scholarship
The Geoffrey Scholarship, presented and funded by the Loyola student
organization etcetera, is open to all current Loyola students who have
demonstrated commitment and service to the GLBT community. Criteria may include
involvement with high school gay-straight alliances; working with peers in youth
centers; volunteering for local AIDS task force efforts (annual walk, Food for
Friends, hotline assistance, etc.); service in PFLAG, HRC, or similar
diversity/anti-discrimination groups; etc. Up to $1000 may be awarded to at
least one student and applied toward tuition, books, student fees, or room and
board.
Eligibility requirements:
• Candidate will be judged upon academic record, and must have at least a
cumulative 2.75 grade point average;
• Candidate must be a full-time student (non-graduating senior) currently
enrolled at Loyola University New Orleans
Additional requirements:
• Candidates must submit five copies of a cover letter outlining his/her
commitment to the GLBT community along with a resume listing: cumulative Loyola
grade point average; expected graduation date and degree major; campus
leadership; and community service and civic activities. Preference will be given
to students that have shown an ongoing commitment to the GLBT community. Please
include contact information for references you wish to submit. Documentation of
financial need is not required but recommended.

Funding for this scholarship is a direct result of revenue generated from the
Gayla fund-raising benefit as well as private contributions.
Finalists will be judged based upon resume application criteria and individual
interviews with the scholarship committee.
All decisions made by the committee are final.
