Course activities: The organization of this course is somewhat different
than that of other Biology courses. Histology is classically a laboratory
course. In addition, lectures often take the form of slide demonstrations.
The result is that, on many occasions, lab and lecture will be combined into
a single learning experience.
Grades and grading: Your participation in this course, measuring both your
efforts and accomplishments, will be evaluated on the percentage of points
earned on lecture exams and lab practicals as follows:
Examinations (4)........... 400 points
Practicals (4)............. 400 points
==============================
800 points
100 to 90% -- A 69 to 65% -- D+
89 to 85% -- B+ 64 to 60% -- D
84 to 80% -- B Below 60 -- F
79 to 75% -- C+
74 to 70% -- C
Prerequisites: Completion of Core Biology Courses (BIOL 102, 104, 201,
203, 202/204).
Attendance: Given your status as upperdivision students, I expect you
to make every effort to attend all of the scheduled class meetings. I
will be teaching this course using a large number of illustrations via
slide shows, which includes some material not found in the readings.
You are, of course, responsible for any and all material presented in class.
