Code of Ethics

The biological sciences are arguably the most diverse and integrated of natural sciences. Professional biologists are engaged in research, education, and service in hundreds of sub-disciplines addressing levels of biological organization from molecules to ecosystems. The faculty and students in the Department of Biological Sciences at Loyola University New Orleans are engaged in biology across this vast diversity.

Our faculty are members of over 30 different professional societies that have well established professional standards for the conduct of research, education, and service. Many of these organizations have formally articulated Professional Codes of Ethics, which are listed below. Additionally, Guidelines for the Conduct of Research , especially as it relates to the use of organisms, have been developed over many decades.
