After the festival, we took the scenic route back home and went through
Breaux Bridge. A very pretty small town, it is unique in Acadiana
because it was founded by a woman, Scholastique Picou Breaux, in
1829! Located on Bayou Teche, it is known as the Crawfish Capital
of the World! Those tasty crustaceans are celebrated each year at
the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival. (They sure have a LOT of festivals
here in Louisiana!)
