Beggars Fraternity is the oldest social fraternity at
Loyola University (founded in 1923). It is devoted to the promotion
of brotherhood among it's members as well as their spiritual, academic,
and social betterment, and also that of the entire Loyola community.
The Men of
Beggars have been an integral part of the campus since
their founding in 1923. Both the school’s newspaper and the
Student Government Association were started by the Beggars. In
addition,
the flag pole
in front of Biever
Hall, the stained glass window in Marquette Hall and the
tile mosaic on the library were all donated to the school by the
fraternity
and
their alumni. The Beggars are more than brotherhood. They
are a Loyola Tradition
and their focus on the betterment of Loyola University
is more than mere
words, it is a commitment.
