BEOWULF---Lesson Plans

This page will grow when I have time to do more searches.  So far, I will link to THINGS THAT I HAVE DONE IN CLASS.  (I will activate the links when I have actually prepared these activities)

I invite you to send ideas and comments fred35@earthlink.net .

Journal Topics  I use journals to activate prior knowledge and connect the work in class to the what is going on outside the classroom.  For example, I have students write about what goes on at their house when they are preparing to receive company; they do this on the day that we read about Beowulf's arrival and the ceremony attached to it.  Then we connect the two.  Here is a list of topics and suggestions for ways to use them.

Monster of the Year  Here is a reveiw activity that I use after we have read BEOWULF.  Students write a letter from Grendel's Mother's point of view in which she explains why her baby should win Monster of the Year.
