Yes, BEOWULF has even inspired a series of comic books.  Why not get your school to pay for a copy and then  figure out a way to use the books in class?  Such books could help those students who are not great readers, could inspire your artistic students to produce their own drawings and/or books, could lead to wonderful  compare/contrast discussion, etc.  I don't think that they should REPLACE the original poem, but they could be useful to you because you are an inventive, creative teacher.
