Poetry Manuscript: Editing & Conceptualizing taught by Joseph Makkos
This course will guide students through the process of independently editing, designing, and producing a short collection of poems for the page with a focus on layout intended for publication. Half of the semester will focus on editing and design methodologies (analogue vs. digital), while the second half will include primers on production and printing techniques (laser vs. letterpress).
Joseph Makkos is an independent publisher who focuses on DIY letterpress production, having designed and produced edition print publications for poets, writers, musicians, and artists looking to showcase their work. He also serves as a faculty member at Delgado Community College, where he teaches composition, literature, and creative writing.
When: Sundays from 3-5pm starting on March 10 for eight weeks.
Where: Loyola campus, Bobet Hall, Rm 341.
Cost: $250.00 per course
Open to: Adults (21+) and is not for Loyola credit. Participants must not be currently enrolled as full-time students.
