Loyola’s Writing Across the Curriculum center is staffed by Loyola students.
WAC hires and trains motivated students who are willing to learn how to be excellent peer-writing tutors. A good tutor has a firm grasp on the written word, understands grammar basics, enjoys working with others, and is willing to continually grow as a writer and tutor. Additionally, a tutor should be responsible, punctual, self-directed, and positive. WAC is open six days a week, so flexible work times are available. Tutors who receive a full work-study award usually work 10 hours a week.
Although many of our tutors are involved in the work-study program, WAC does have Student Assistant positions available. Student Assistantships are usually awarded to students who show outstanding writing abilities and/or have been referred by their professors.
If you are interested in working as a tutor, please contact Nancy Rowe at 865-2271, or email her at nprowe at loyno.edu.
Each semester, WAC supervises several internships in our writing center. Students majoring in English and other related fields are eligible to serve as WAC interns.
If you are interested in working at WAC as an intern, please contact Nancy Rowe at 865-2271, or email her at nprowe at loyno.edu.
