Staff + Tutors


The program is administered by three full-time staff:

  • Robert Bell is the Director of WAC. He is a graduate of Loyola University ('89) and has an MFA in Creative Writing. He is responsible for general administration, planning, tutor recruitment and training. He is an extraordinary faculty member in the English Department, where he teaches rhetoric and literature. He is co-author of the textbook, The Handbook for Reading & Writing About Literature. Presently, he is also a fiction editor for the New Orleans Review.

  • Nancy Rowe is the Assistant Director of WAC. She holds a B.S. in Business and an MFA in Creative Writing. She manages the day-to-day operations of the Writing Center and the supervision and training of peer tutors. She also teaches writing in the English Department.

  • Mary Waguespack is WAC’s Faculty Writing Consultant. She holds an M.A. in Literature from Boston University. She is an extraordinary faculty member in the English Department, where she teaches first-year writing courses. In WAC, she assists with tutor training and supervision, and maintains the WAC Writing Guides resource. She also provides individualized tutoring and advising for students needing intensive help with basic grammar and ESL issues.
