Resources for Faculty

Submit Assignments

Faculty are encouraged to send the WAC Center a copy of their writing assignment(s) in order to facilitate more efficient tutor-student dialogue. To submit a copy of your assignment(s), click here and either attach your assignment(s) as a Word or RTF file, or describe the assignment as fully as possible.

For each assignment, please specify the course title and course number, your goals and expectations for the assignment(s), and any other information you feel would benefit our tutors and your students.

Refer Students

Faculty may refer students to the WAC Center by filling out a “WAC Center Referral” form and sending the student to the WAC Center with the completed form. The student will make an appointment with a tutor, and the tutor will send back to you a report detailing the session. For a copy of the “WAC Center Referral” form, click here (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).

If you have any questions, please call Nancy Rowe, x2271, or send an email to nprowe at loyno.edu.

Classroom Support

WAC staff are available year-round to confer with faculty about developing writing assignments and evaluating student writing; to present guest lectures about writing; and to lead in-class writing workshops. We offer lectures on a wide variety of topics and will be happy to customize our comments to the needs of your assignment and course. For classroom support services, call Robert Bell at ext. 3094.

Curriculum Development/Special Projects

WAC staff are also available to work with faculty who want to revise their courses to incorporate writing-to-learn strategies, segmented writing assignments, portfolios, and other types of writing. We have worked successfully with various departments to obtain internal and external grant funding to support curricular innovations that integrate writing assignments. For information on curriculum development and special projects, call Robert Bell at ext. 3094.
