29th Annual Walk for the Hungry
Despite the uncertain weather on Saturday morning the 29th annual Walk for the Hungry was a success. Over 900 people registered for the Walk. The rain held off allowing about 500 participants to walk the 4-mile route. The Walk raised over $8,000 in the fight against hunger. Second Harvest Food Bank truck was on hand to receive non-perishable food items walkers brought to the event.
Congressman Anh Joseph Cao encouraged the walkers to continue their involvement in the fight to end hunger. Cao told the group the Walk for the Hungry is the first step to take in ending hunger, but they must continue walking and stay involved in the fight against poverty and hunger. Congressman Cao (red sleeves) joined the walkers in the Walk for the Hungry.
The 30th annual Walk for the Hungry is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2011.
