Intro to World Religions

RELS-T122-W01
Professor Kathleen O’Gorman

The course explores the origin and evolution of the religious or spiritual impulse that seems to be a unique capacity of the human.  This experience finds expression in the various wisdom traditions (religions) that have emerged in human history to preserve and pass on the experience of the sacred that has inspired and guided subsequent generations throughout the world.  We will trace this journey through time and space, focusing on the more prominent of these traditions and considering their contributions and the challenges they face if they are to remain faithful and viable in the 21st century.
