Criminal Justice Program Planning & Evaluation

CRJU-C365-W01
Professor Wendy Hicks

Evaluation research is an applied branch of the field of social science intended to supply scientifically valid information with which to guide programs and policies currently used in the criminal justice system (law enforcement, courts, and corrections) in the United States.  This course will familiarize students with the literature on criminal justice evaluation as well as teach them key techniques to measure the effects of a program or policy against the goals it set out to accomplish.  This allows a policy maker to engage in subsequent decision-making about the program or policy and make improvements and adjustments for future programs.
