Welcome to Loyola University New Orleans! I am confident your experience here will be a rich one. You will discover excellent academic programs designed to introduce you to new ways of perceiving the world. You will be challenged by a superb faculty to develop understanding of methods and disciplines which will enrich your analytic and critical abilities. Hopefully, you will uncover whole new areas of study which you have not encountered previously. Along the way, you will meet university faculty, staff members, and administrators who are dedicated to enhancing your educational experience; you will greet fellow students who share many of your same interests and goals.

Loyola’s campus environment is a critical factor in your educational experience, and your role in shaping the environment must be an active one. As a Catholic institution and faithful to its Jesuit heritage, Loyola is committed to the human dignity and worth of every person. Concretely, this means Loyola supports those values which nourish the human respect needed for community members to live, work, and study together in a stimulating and beneficial atmosphere. Honesty, integrity, responsibility, and an abiding respect among members of the community are essential ingredients in the campus environment Loyola maintains. Your cooperation and active adherence to the norms of conduct presented in this handbook will go far to strengthen and advance this environment. In addition, this handbook provides information on the many services and ancillary opportunities Loyola offers to help you achieve your educational goals. I encourage you to read through the following pages carefully.

Through the course of this academic year, please be sure to use your abilities to their fullest, to expand and broaden your horizons, and to take the time to make good friends whose company and humor you can enjoy through your lifetime. And let me know if I can be of help along the way.

Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J. President
