Where can I do my service learning?
Interested in an agency not on the list? Exceptions may be given in some cases, but not in others.
- If an agency has a current, active service learning Memorandum of Understanding with Loyola but isn't on the list of preapproved placements for a particular class, the professor can give permission to serve there. This can be done if the placement supports course learning goals.
- Students may not do a service learning placement at any agency that does not have a current, active service learning Memorandum of Understanding with Loyola. This is for legal and liability reasons. Partner agencies have signed contracts with Loyola which protect everyone involved.
Thinking about doing your service learning at more than one placement?
- You can't do this if you only have one service learning course. You must serve all your hours for a single class at the same placement. This is because agencies need a minimum time commitment from volunteers to make it a valuable experience. Also, this allows you to form relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the agency.
- Although it's not recommended, if you have more than one service learning class, you may have more than one placement. Learn more>>
