Uptown Shepherd's Center
The Uptown Shepherd's Center is a daytime activity center for seniors 60 and over. They can come to the Center for fun, food, and friendship. Activities include French and Spanish classes, Arts and Crafts, Bible Study, Yoga, Sing-alongs, a drama group, Friday Jazz, Sewing and Quilting, and many more. Our goal is to provide stimulating activities and a supportive community to local seniors.
Loyola service learning students may participate in any of our activities at the center, whether they are planned groups or informal activities (cards, jigsaw puzzles, knitting). We would love it if students would develop new groups or activities based on particular interests or special skills they have. We have a special need for young people to work with our seniors 1-on-1 on basic computer literacy. Mostly, you can befriend our seniors, listening to them and conversing with them.
