Puentes/LatiNola
Puentes New Orleans is the first Latino-serving, Latino-run community development organization in the Greater New Orleans Area. Puentes was founded in 2007 by a concerned group of Latino community leaders who realized that in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina the New Orleans area Latino community was being systematically excluded from important city planning.
LatiNola is the civic engagement and volunteer arm of Puentes. LatiNola volunteer leaders can:
- Coordinate a high school essay contest
- Conduct campus outreach
- Create cultural awareness presentations
- Conduct a Get Into College Workshop
- Create and maintain a Louisiana Resource Guide
- Plan a Professional Development Series
LatiNola volunteers support Puentes' programs and give back to the Latino community in many ways. As a LatiNola volunteer, you can participate in existing initiatives or develop new ones.
